Thieme Schipper, born october 24, 1981, grew up with music in the church and always has loved to listen to fusion/jazzrock music from his childhood on. Allthough at first he had in mind to become a bass player, he discovered the beauty of the saxophone that was introduced to him by a guy playing on the saxophone in church.

When Thieme was 12 years old his parents allowed him ;-) to learn to play the saxophone at the local music school. From two years later on he played a lot in church and different bands while studying at the atheneum. After finishing high school he studied Jazz on saxophone in Enschede with Allard Buwalda as his teacher and finished his course cum laude.
Thieme also studied for two years at the conservatory of Amsterdam: one year with Ferdinand Povel and Jasper Blom as his teachers for saxophone, and one year he followed the master course for composition and arranging. During these two years he also learned to play the flute and clarinet.
Thieme is active as saxophonist/composer/arranger in different bands like (of course) his own 'Thieme Schipper' band, The Convocation Bigband, the Come2Worship band and Opwekking (organisation that produces new songs for churches in the Netherlands) and at last semester of 2013 he's been part of the Dock of the bay tourband as a tribute to Otis Redding.  Also he loves to play different musical instruments like irish whistles which he plays in the celtic group TOFF and other bands.
